MC Horizons Social Innovation for Communities Affected by Transition 

Inspiralba is taking part  in a significant international staff exchanges and research project under the Horizon Europe – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Framework Programme. 

The SINTACT (Social Innovation Methods and Tools for Communities Affected by Transition(s)) project brings together partners from eight countries located on three continents – Europe (Bulgaria, Scotland, England and Romania), Asia (Vietnam, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Japan) and Africa (Morocco). 

SINTACT will consider socio-economic challenges, test new solutions for implementing social innovations in support of communities affected by the energy transition. The SINTACT project focuses on the risks of increasing social and economic insecurity (including unemployment and energy poverty) faced by the affected regions traditionally relying on industrial sectors and fossil fuels as well as considering the skills and employment opportunities relating to renewables.  Energy Poverty and democratic ownership of energy production will also be considered. 

Brining together academic expertise, along with expertise from an SME and NGO perspective, will assist in ensuring reach and broad spectrum of experience.  Results, methods and tools used will be openly shared, observing the principles of open science to assist policymakers, communities, NGO’s and businesses to assist with strategic decision making for a more just and inclusive green transition. 

We will welcome academic staff from across the partnership to Inspiralba, Argyll and to Scotland, as well as for our staff team to learn from work across partner countries over the 4 years of the project, which runs until 2029.
